Bristlecone Pine Tree 

How can a tree grow in this arid, hot envroment? The struggle to survive is evident in the twisted structure and asymetrical growth.  A testimony to the strength demonstrated by the tree's will to live.  This example of persistence and stubborness gave me courage to press on against adversity.

A beautiful contrast of a green mossy river and dry grass on its edge.  A white tree and a dark mountain offset a clear blue sky.  I was passing by and did a double take.  i had to turn around because I wanted to preserve this image forever.

This is a wild flower found in Arizona. I chose to paint it because it is strikingly beautiful in the sand and desert.  The colors jump out at you as you walk in the heat of the springtime.  The remarkable whiteness represents purity to me, and shows the power of color in the midst of otherwise drabness.}
