Roger Report

Following report illustrates Kingdom spreading.

Date: October 21, 2009 2:49:21 AM PDT--------------
INCOR Board, I am in Mae Sot, on the Thai-Burma border.  Yesterday I purchased 1,000 blankets and participated in the delivery of 600 of those.  However, I have been met by a totally unexpected hindrance to completing the project.  In their desire to discourage the refugees, wishing that the whole problem would "just go away" I guess, the Thai authorities refuse to allow us to deliver more than one blanket only to each family.  Arbitrary and ridiculous, to be sure, but we were stopped at both Thai police and Thai military checkpoints for inventory of our cargo, so they are serious!  However, the 1,000 blankets will serve a great need on behalf of refugees, for sure.

Meantime, I have another $2,000 which we have received (or expect to receive) donated for blankets.  Having no chance to consult before a decision was necessary, I have made the following disbursements of those funds for severe current needs (understanding that if you feel necessary I will refund dissatisfied donors if you direct):
- To Karen Refugee Committee, $360 for tarps for covering of the grass/leaf roofs of refugee huts, and $760 for cooking oil, sardines and vegetables for refugees.
- To Free Burma Rangers/Christians Concerned for Burma (Rev. Dave Eubank), $880 for support of relief teams "inside" providing medical, dental, and spiritual support to the thousands of IDP (internally-displaced persons).

The rainy season is still not past, and the monsoon downpours are too much for the native roofs, so tarps are required.  The "new arrival" refugees have had no time to implement their usual industrious vegetable gardening and raising of chickens and pigs, so are surviving only on rice donated by representatives of various European and N. American embassies here.  Dave Eubank is "inside" now with his family for training and support of relief teams.  They are in particularly dangerous territory (landmines, Burmese Army), and plan to be in the jungle for another three months.  It seems to me that these needs are as worthy as the blanket project, although not what donors expected.  Anyhow, I had to decide what to do at the moment, and it is done.

Respectfully, Roger

What follows comes from somebody working to assist the Burmese Karen, who are under increasing oppression by the Myanmar military every day.  Please pray for the safety of these orphans as they attempt to escape to clandestine safety in the mountains of NW Thailand.
I shared with you a while ago about 3 little orphans in a camp inside Burma. The situation is still very tense on the river. Some shooting  has started.
Our contact inside feels that this is the right time to take the little children out before it is too late. Please, pray for safety. I  will be at the border tomorrow to get the children and will bring them  personally to one of our other Shekinah Homes in the mountains.

We thank God that our children at the KT Shekinah Home are doing better.

Thank you all for your love and prayers.

Blessings,
